Mary Vosburgh is a dedicated family law attorney in Charleston, SC whose passion for access to justice has tailored her approach to representing clients with empathy, compassion, precision, and strong advocacy.
A graduate of College of Charleston and Charleston School of Law, Mary’s roots in Charleston run deep as Charleston has been called home for her family for generations.
Mary began her legal career working as a staff attorney with One80 Place Legal Services, where she worked exclusively with homeless veterans for ten years. She dedicated her time to assisting homeless and indigent veterans in removing civil legal barriers to ending their homelessness, including family law issues. She then went on to work at Charleston Legal Access, where she served as the Managing Attorney for three years, representing clients in a variety of civil legal issues, focusing on family law. At Charleston Legal Access, Mary worked closely with survivors and victims of domestic violence and abuse, advocating for them in complex matters, including Orders of Protection, divorces, and custody and visitation actions.
Mary chaired the Charleston Homeless Court Implementation Committee, starting Charleston’s first Homeless Court and was an integral part of the startup of the first Housing Courts in South Carolina. She is currently a member of the James L. Petigru Inn of Court, Co-Chair of the South Carolina Bar Leadership Academy, prior graduate of the South Carolina Bar Leadership Academy, Past President of the Charleston County Bar Association, and prior member and special advisor to the ABA Commission on Homelessness & Poverty. She has presented at the annual conferences of both The National Legal Aid and Defender Association and the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans to further tackle legal and social issues facing homeless veterans and the indigent. She was recently named a “Legal Elite” in Family Law by Charleston Business Magazine.
Mary also serves as an Associate Municipal Court Judge for the City of Hanahan, South Carolina, and has been in this role since July 2020.
When not practicing law or sitting on the bench, Mary enjoys spending time outdoors in Charleston or the mountains with her son and two dogs.
